“Did you hear that, Mom?” a boy asked, straining his ears.

“Yes, I did! Then a splash after!” a young lady answered. “Go see, huh, Jonathon?”

Jonathon leaped up from his seat and ran to the river. It wasn’t theirs, but it was nearby. “A sack!” he stood there, as if not knowing what to do.

For a while I wriggled desperately in the sack, sinking deeper in the water, I gurgled, “Help!”
But when I stopped, the boy leaped into the water. I was now at the bottom, gasping for breath. The rock had pulled me lower.

With much effort, he pulled the sack to the bank, coughing. “Mom!” he yelled, “Mom!”
His mother came running.

“Mom, I think someone is in it!” Jonathon sat beside me, panicked.

“Well, for heaven’s sakes, don’t just sit there, open it up!” she cried.

Jonathon opened the sack, and my golden hair tumbled out.
