Questions from Bookworm
Amy Sparrow (mod)

I know I'm just a mod and not one of you kids, but I feel like I get to know you all and have emailed a bit with some of you. So I figure it'll be fun to join the fun and let you all get to know me a little too!

What is your favorite book?

As everyone else has been saying, how do I pick one favorite?!? A little easier is to pick authors, but even so I have quite a list. But I'll narrow it down to a few... haha.

Goose Girl by Shannon Hale (A young adult fantasy about a girl who can understand a horse, and learns to control wind. She starts out as a crown princess but is cheated from her throne and finds herself hiding in the woods of a foreign country. This is the first in the Bayern Series)

Dee Henderson's O'Malley series--Christian romantic suspense books about people like trauma counselors, US Marshals, and hostage negotiators. They are intense but not gory and the romance is sweet and light--no mushiness!

What is your favorite movie?

That's hard too... it changes fairly often, but I love all the Pixar movies (except Brave was disappointing!) especially Monsters, Inc and The Incredibles. I also like August Rush a lot.

What is your favorite TV show?

Doctor Who!

What is your favorite music genre?

Probably Contemporary Christian Music. I like bluegrass and gospel, too.

What is your favorite musical?

Fiddler on the Roof.

Who is your favorite female singer?

Right now it's probably Laura Story.

Who is your favorite male singer?

Hmmm, maybe Curtis Steven Chapman?

Do you play any sports?

I am mostly blind in one eye and have horrible depth-perception, so balls are not my friends. ;-) But I used to swim and competitively figure skated before my genetic condition made my muscles and joints too weak.

What's the most exciting thing that's happened to you lately?

After 30 years of waiting (mostly patiently) for the right guy, I'm now dating an awesome godly man in a long distance relationship. And right now I'm staying for a month with him and his parents to get to spend more time in person. :-D

Do you play an instrument?

I took piano lessons for seven years and I'm still horrible at it! haha. I finally decided it just wasn't my talent. I love to sing, though, so I say my voice is my instrument. I often perform the songs at church in sign language, also, so one could say my hands are also an instrument.

Are you ready for school to start?

Of course I'm not in school any more, but I do work a few hours a week as a sign language interpreter at a college, so the question is still applicable. I'm not quite ready because right now I'm in Maryland on the east coast and I live in Washington state on the west coast. I'll need a few weeks to rest up after the trip before I'm ready to start work. But my college doesn't start until the middle of Sept, so I think I'll be ready and excited by the time it's here. I love my job!

I also may be auditioning to be a shadow interpreter for a stage play at another college, and I'm excited about that! A shadow interpreter dresses up either like a side character (like a servant or something) or in all dark clothes and stands on the stage to follow one character around and sign everything they say. So it's kind of an actor doing the same part but in another language.
