Hi. My name is Samantha, and I am twelve years old. I am currently staying at Marlborough Children's Hospital, because I have leukaemia. I haven't made many friends, so I've decided to write to you, my diary. There's pretty much no-one here, actually. Marlborough is a very small town, that is probably why no-one is here. The nurses are very nice, and do anything to make me feel comfortable and happy, but I always hate it when people go out of their way to make you feel cheerful, especially when you're ill.
I've got just a few weeks to live, actually. 4 and a half, to be precise. It makes Mum and Dad sad, and they cry, which I hate - because I've always thought that parents and adults weren't supposed to cry.
My sister, Hattie, just stares into space and blinks. She's only little, seven years old, so she wouldn't know what it's like.
