The pastor came today, as planned. His name is Pastor Harshwig.
I'm sure I don't know if he intends to be an angry, mean man, but he is, whether in his knowledge or not.
He spoke to us as if we had just broken his wife's best china tea-set (God forbid) and he told us what would happen to us if we were very naughty. One of his quotes were:
''If you do not obey dear, poor Mrs. Frugular who takes care of you and is very kind to you, then God will without doubt punish you.''
Catherine told me that it was not so, but others tell me it is very rude and UN-Godly to disagree with a pastor. Helen Brusher was one of them, but she is an awfully dreadful girl who makes fun of the other girls, so I'm not sure it is quite accurate.
I shall make up my own mind. Perhaps I will be right in saying that Mr. Harshwig is a dreadful man also, but I'm not again sure if he means to be.
Catherine told me that she wasn't the least bit upset about standing on the stool. She spoke to me about it at luncheon today and said she was only partly upset because she thought Mrs. Frugular was a strict woman, but Pastor Harshwig is worse.
Oh, dear! I can see the kind servant rushing towards my bed! More tomorrow, my dear!
