Jane's POV
I was just going for a hike in the woods next to my house. It was a normal day. The forest was completely safe, and my parents allowed me to go there, provided I didn't wonder far. I just hoped that jerk Caleb wouldn't be intruding...
Caleb's POV
I followed stealthily behind Jane, hiding behind trees every time she turned. I was going to give her a scare...
Jane's POV
Nobody know just how the fight got started, but ever since Kindergarten, we've pestered each other. Things haven't changed, now we're in 6th and we still fight.
Caleb's POV
From the first day we met, we instantly hated each other. People always say that whole 'love hate' thing, but me and Jane are total enemies. She always spreads any gossip she hears about me. Which isn't hard, we live right next to each other! How's that for irony?
Jane's POV
I reached the top of one of the hills. I called this spot 'The Spotlight' because it's the one place where the sun is not hidden by the trees.
Caleb's POV
As I saw her on the hill, I noticed the light shining on something. It was a wooden goblet...with rubies on the sides?!
That had to be worth something. Who cares about being caught, I wanted that! It probably costed a lot of money.
Jane's POV
I whipped around to see Caleb lunging for a goblet. As he grabbed for it, beaming, I noticed it had rubies in it! I could buy a lot of clothes with that...I snatched it just in time!
Caleb's POV
As you can probably guess,I wanted that. I put my hand on it and tugged.
Jane's POV
I wouldn't let go! This was mine!
Caleb's POV
With all my might, I tugged it...and it flew out of her hands, not into mine, but on the ground, shattering into millions of pieces.
Jane's POV
I was stunned. I was about to yell, but I had no chance. A mist rose out of the remains, twirling around me and Caleb. We twirled around and around, until I was pulled toward the center with Caleb. I closed my eyes and blacked out.
