"No," Alicia sobbed. "No. This can't be happening." Her shoulders heaved with every strained breath. "No. No. No! NO!" She slammed her fists into the wall that she knelt before.
The day before, her only love, Bryce, had died in a gruesome motorcycle accident.
The memory surrounded Alicia. It had been a wonderful day. It was summer, and she had just been hired to her first job. She was in college, and was a straight A student, which she was proud of.
Bryce had never payed much attention to her, but she knew that he loved her. The glittering diamond ring on her fourth finger was proof.
She had come home to her small apartment, and began preparing for Bryce to come home from work. She set the table for two, not knowing what tragedy would occur the next night.
She remembered going to the hospital...seeing her dear Bryce's cold, soulless body. Alicia shivered as she remembered the depressing memory.
Snapping back to the present, Alicia stood up from her knees and slowly trudged to the kitchen.
Warm tears streaked down her face as she reached one of the drawers in the small kitchen. The drawer squeaked as she pulled it open. There, she reached for a dull butcher knife, the only weapon she had.
She raised the knife, pointed towards her bosom, prepared to meet her beloved in heaven.
She breathed in sharply, and rose the knife slowly.
"Alicia." a warm, familiar voice spoke. Alicia gasped and spun around. The knife clattered to the floor.
There stood a pale, shimmering form of Bryce. Alicia stood there in shock, fresh tears streaming from her eyes.
"Bryce! How--..." Alicia managed to say in a hoarse whisper.
"God...he grants miracles for those whom he loves." Bryce smiled. He opened his arms as Alicia ran to embrace him. Together they wept, finally reunited in a pool of tears.
